Hi, Mrs. Pickett
Here is my blog on chapter 7. I really enjoyed this lecture in class. I have one son and I bought him so many picture books. I believe that introducing children to picture books will open the gateway to the world of reading.
Chapter 7
Picture Books
The books that were shown in class were really nice. The pictures and the wonderful colors that the illustrators used really brought the book to life. Personally I love when books have bright warm colors. I also agree that emotion and tone can be manipulated by how light or dark the colors are.
I believe that pictures can also make or break a story. Children are most likely to pay attention if they are engrossed in the pictures as well as the story telling. Hopefully when I become a teacher I will have plenty of these types of books. I truly believe that theses types of books "hook and pull them in" children have a better chance at becoming a life time reader. Also, when a teacher does a walk threw with picture books she is more likely to make the children want to listen to the story if the pictures are awesome.
Children are like sponges they really do absorb everything. They really want to learn and, by making it exciting with great pictures you are setting them up for being a life long reader!
